Action Sequence Revisit

Last year I took pictures of the skate boarders at the War Memorial in lower Hyde Park. I put together a quick and dirty action sequence using paint.net. I though if I knew what I was doing I could probably do a better job.

I did a number of things wrong taking the pictures; forgot to set/lock the focus so the skater is a bit blurry, wasn’t using a tripod so even though I was trying not to, I did track the subject a little bit.

Here is that first stacked sequence attempt.

This is the sequence stacked using Hugin (great software) using the “include in stack” mask around the skater. I’m not sure if this the best method but the result is more pleasing in terms of the blending and correct alignment of the image stack. It was quite interesting to see just how much camera movement there was, in Hugin you can view how the stack aligns. The crop has also changed once the images are aligned and straightened it is due the the base image and method that was chosen for the first attempt.

Of course all the original faults at time of shooting, I mentioned above still remain.
