Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls – Mosi-oa-Tunya – the Smoke that Thunders
Thought to be the largest waterfall in the world, this mile-plus wide waterfall along the Zambezi River is on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. We were on the Zambian side. It happened to be the wet season when we visited so there was no way to see the full width of the falls. the volume of water was fantastic and the spray from the falls fell like torrential rain when we headed down the walkway to the knife edge bridge.
Our very patriotic guide showed us the Hydro Plant as well as the area ontop of the falls as part of the tour of the falls. The locals have quite a liking for Livingston that seemed to go further than just the name sake of their town.
With this much mist in the air all you need is the sun at your back and rainbows abound.
This shot was taken through the window of a commercial aircraft so is fairly hazy, but it is quite a sight from the air.
Due to the fantastic amount of water coming over the falls you could not take a picture form the right angle to match the label of the local beverage. Well you could take a picture you just can’t see much!
